Malaysian actor Kenji Sawahi, known for his roles in films like "Hantu Judi" and television dramas like "Gerak Khas," has made a candid revelation about his future plans. At 61, the seasoned actor has chosen to embrace singlehood and is preparing for his later years with a clear vision: he would prefer to live in a nursing home rather than burden his family.
In a recent interview with mStar, Kenji, whose real name is Lim Boon Wah, explained his decision, emphasizing his desire to avoid placing a strain on his loved ones. "I'm already living on my own now," he shared. "Once I'm older, I plan to sell all of my assets and divide the money among my family members. I'm choosing to stay in a nursing home if I don't find my soulmate. I don't want to trouble anyone. My siblings already have their own families."
Despite being open to the possibility of a relationship, Kenji acknowledges the challenges of finding a life partner at this stage. However, he embraces his single status with contentment, enjoying the freedom and flexibility it offers. "Single life is fun for me," he said. "Even if the production crew calls me for a project at the last minute, I can still go as I have no other responsibilities."
Kenji's decision highlights a growing trend in Malaysia and around the world: individuals are increasingly choosing to plan for their later years independently, prioritising their autonomy and minimizing the burden on their families. His story also underscores the importance of open conversations about aging, caregiving, and the evolving needs of an aging population.
